WELCOME TO BALI

Bali is a province of the Republic of Indonesia governed by an elected Governor and a local parliamentary assembly. The provincial capital is Denpasar where most goverment offices are located in the areas of Renon. Bali is divided into eight regencies : Jembrana, Buleleng, Bangli,Tabanan, Badung, Gianyar, Klungkung and Karangasem.

Bali is predominantly Hindu in culture and great respect should be shown for all festivals, events and ceremonies which will most likely be of religious significance.

Bali is an island with an area of 5700 sq km and a population of around 3.5 million. Most live and work in the increasingly urbanized area of Denpasar linking to Sanur, Kuta, Legian, and Jimbaran. Outside those resort areas Bali is really an agricultural island with a system of paddy field and irrigation established hundreds of years ago.

Balinese society is based on the Pura (temple) which is the centre of religious, civil, family, and social life with the Banjar as the cohesive centre of community.

Visitors are advised to show great respect for all ceremonies and be patient in d ealing with officials of event, parades and temple.
